Weight loss service
An estimated 23% of the UK population is now classed as obese, putting them at risk of a whole host of related health issues. The UK has the second highest rate of obesity in Europe and The Department of Health has also recently warned that obesity has overtaken smoking as the leading cause of some cancers. Despite this, the provision of weight management treatments available on the NHS remains restrictive with only one course of Orlistat available.
Our new medicated weight loss service can help you to achieve and sustain a healthy weight.
The service uses a prescription-only injectable medicine to suppress your appetite, in turn reducing your food intake.
If used in conjunction with a healthy diet and increased exercise sustained healthy weight loss can be achieved.
You’re eligible for the Medicated Weight Loss Service if:
- You are aged 18 to 75
- You have a BMI of over 30
- Or a BMI of over 27 but have been diagnosed with a condition that is made worse by weight gain such as a heart condition
